I jokingly told my parents that it's the Ohsiek birthweek motto (go big or go home), but then we all realized mid-laugh that it's not really a joke. Somehow things with my family just end up getting bigger and bigger until, at the end of it all, we realize we've overdone it when Rayna sleeps for 15 hours straight. Poor child! It happens every time we get together.
My family came to visit the weekend before Rayna's birthday, and we had a pretty fun-packed 30 hours together. It was a short trip for them (2 am Saturday morning to 7 am Sunday morning-- wow), but we made the most of it in true Ohsiek fashion.
Before my family got here we had some friends come over. Rayna got to play with her cousins Maylee and Ben.

| The famous kitty that has become essential at bedtime around here. She is 100% attached to this thing. |
 |
| Vintage bathing suit! It's actually her skirt, full of crumbs from her little cupcake. |

| In the bathtub |
Part of my family's reason for coming was that we hadn't exchanged our Christmas presents yet! Bowman, Rayna, and I were completely spoiled-- we have such great family. :)
 |
| Her big dog from Uncle Ben. The first thing she did was lay flat on the dog and gave it a big hug. So sweet :) |
 |
| Pink cowgirl boots from the "shoe aunt" Megan. We love them! (I'll just say it, these were mostly for Bowman.) |
We finished up the presents in a hurry so that we could drive down to Provo and visit the Bean Museum! My wonderful grandparents joined us and we had a great time.

| "It's crrrrazy in here" face at the museum |
 |
| Millions of kids harrassing the poor tortoise |
 |
| Snacking on the best goldfish ever. Seriously, have you eaten the flavor-blasted kind? |
When we got home we had dinner and let Rayna decide her destiny! While on his mission Bowman learned a Korean tradition that he's been
dying to do with our kids. On their first birthday, kids get an array of things laid out in front of them. There are things like a pencil (for brains), a ball (for altheticism), money (for wealth), a string (for long life). Once everything is laid out, the baby gets to choose something. Whatever they choose first is their destiny in life! We had kind of a hodge podge of things, and guess what Rayna chose? A Book of Mormon! Maybe she'll grow up to be a missionary. Or the General Relief Society President. Probably that.

| The exhaustion catching up to her |
 |
| But still got enough energy to demolish another cupcake |
After my family left the next day, Rayna got to relax a little bit in her new birthday clothes and play with her new birthday toys.

| Showing me her blocks |

| Pushing the lawnmower |
And that night she slept for 15 hours. Utter exhaustion. But we gave her a day to recuperate before the actual birthday came. And we couldn't NOT celebrate on the actual day! We did go pretty low-key though. We had a regular, calm day while Bowman was at school. When he got home that evening we went to Cabela's which was a huge hit. Later we ate good barbeque and came home for some much needed sleep.

| Not so sure about the fish |
 |
| Feeding the carp. She kept trying to snack on the fish food when I let her try. |
 |
| Feeling hilarious. She is so silly. |
 |
| We ate at a barbeque restaurant, and this time, she was big enough to eat the ribs! And she loved them. Remember from last summer? I took this picture specifically because it reminded me of that. |
When it was all over, I think even Rayna can agree it was worth the lost sleep. We had a great time celebrating the baby we all love! Thanks Ohsieks for coming to visit!
