Sunny St. George

Update: At last Bowman and I are together in Virginia! Now that I'm here with some time on my hands, I can post about getting here and the fun things we've done, but I'm also playing catch up, which includes a lovely trip I took to St. George before coming back East.

In July I went with my beautiful mother and sister to St. George to celebrate birthdays/being girls/not going on 50 mile backpacking trips (which was where my dad and brother were going). Megan's birthday was that day and mine was a week later. It was a fantastic trip! My mom surprised us on Tuesday with a secret lunch and afternoon at the Red Rock Spa! We got manicures and pedicures and were all miraculously able to keep our kicking reflexes under control as we got our feet filed. The end result was beautiful hands and feet for all of us.

That night we got tickets to Tuacahn where we planned to watch "Footloose." But-- we got stormed out! The wind was... well, intense. As you can see. It turned out okay that they canceled the show though, because we got raincheck tickets to the next night's show, "Annie." And we liked it better, so it was perfect.

On Wednesday we drove over to Zion National Park for some hiking and it was beautiful! Hot, yes, but beautiful. Megan and I got in the river and had a few close shaves when we almost got dragged under and swept away, but since the river was only a foot deep someone should have been able to save us if we needed them to.

Megan is still in the danger zone. Note her stress and my relief. It was scary for us.

My mom was so, so nice to get the surprise spa treatment and book a beautiful hotel for us to take a break (breaking from what I'm not sure... our "stressful" summer days I guess, haha) for a short birthday trip. Thanks Mom and Megan, it was a blast!
